Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has recognized Starcon's outstanding safety efforts in 2014 with a prestigious National Safety Excellence Award, one of only eleven companies in the nation to be so honored. One of the other eleven national safety award winners this year is Starcon's parent company, Cianbro.
“This is a wonderful validation of how hard every Starcon team member works daily to actively engage not just ourselves but others into our safety culture," said Starcon's General Manager of HSE and Training Brett Richardson. "This is a culture that I am proud to be a part of.”
On behalf of ABC, NCCER Master Trainer Chris Williams congratulated Starcon by saying, "you are part of a select group of ABC contractor members whose achievements in the field of construction safety can be considered exceptional."
The 2014 National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold status in ABC's Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP), and were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates, use of leading indicators, innovation in processes and training and interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Environment, Health & Safety Committee.
“Each year we are honored to recognize the very best construction projects the industry has to offer and this year’s winners’ commitment to quality and safety throughout the planning, execution and delivery of each of these projects is truly remarkable,” said 2015 ABC National Chair Pamela Volm. “These projects, the contractors who carried them out and their employees are a perfect embodiment of ABC’s value proposition: to help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.”
