This year broke new ground for Starcon and Cianbro at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Craft Championships in Florida, with the two organizations fielding a team for the event's Team Competition. The Starcon and Cianbro team members who made up the squad were: Starcon Pipe Fitter Jesse Thomas, Starcon Insulator Ronald Strednicky, Cianbro Millwright Chad Bemis, Cianbro Electrician Jason Canarr and Cianbro Carpenter Jeremy Whitney.
Their challenge was to put together an industrial skid that included a motor, a pump, lighting, a control panel, piping and an insulated tank - all within a six hour period.
The team battled through logistical and time constraining challenges but stayed focused on their work, performing diligently as a team, with great safety, quality and productivity while displaying skills such as fitting pipe, millwright alignment, electrical wiring, insulating the tank and building a form for a concrete pour. The team achieved outstanding success in the competition, coming home with a 2nd Place Silver Medal.
The Starcon-Cianbro team members all got together in February at the Cianbro training institute in Pittsfield, Maine to familiarize themselves with each other and to practice as a team for a couple of days. Starcon/Cianbro hope to build off of this learning experience and to use the lessons as a training and practice ground for many achievements to come for both companies.
A big "thanks" for all of the competitors and managers who pitched in to help make this a memorable and special event!
